Shop Handmade Zentangle Art and Accessories from ZenJoanie
If you have been keeping up with the latest news around the Richard Magazine offices, you likely already know that we recently launched our very own online store. Maybe you’ve even browsed our products, and picked up a few of our editor-approved pieces. In recent weeks, we have been spotlighting the editor’s picks and new emerging brands from our store with our RM Shop video series. Today, we are bringing you the latest on ZenJoanie. Our team quickly fell in love with the colorful and artistic fashion, accessory, and home decor pieces by this brand – and there’s a story behind each one of the handmade designs.
The real-life Joanie behind ZenJoanie first became interested in the Art of Zentangle, a popular method of drawing where you create imagery out of repetitive patterns, after taking a class on Tangle Art. After her parents passed away, she found the practice of creating these mesmerizing designs to be therapeutic, and she wanted to share that joy and harmony with others. She transformed her line drawings into artwork, accessories, fashion designs and more – and that was the beginning of the ZenJoanie brand.
The RM team particularly loves the jewelry in the ZenJoanie collection, because the pieces are so wearable and stylish – and it’s always a bonus to have a little piece of artwork at hand. Plus, this part of the brand is the most expansive: the company offers Zentangle charm bracelets, dog tag style necklaces, leather wrap charm bracelets, and more ways to wear your creative pieces. Most of these designs are hand-drawn by Joanie herself, and her husband Paul also creates digital art jewelry for the brand as well.
You can shop our editors’ favorite selection of ZenJoanie pieces on the Richard Magazine shop, or on ZenJoanie’s website.

Videmus Omnia Debuts Avant-Garde “Enigma” Collection at New York Fashion Week – Exclusive Video
Artistic gothic-inspired styles and avant-garde detailing were on full display for the theatrical Videmus Omnia Fall 2019 runway show, titled “Enigma,” this February season of New York Fashion Week. The haute couture luxury show, produced by Nolcha Shows, is designer Yun Qu‘s third collection presentation.
For the season, the garments combined the “art aesthetics of 14th-16th centuries’ renaissance, 19th century impressionism, and mid-1980s grunge music,” according to the brand. This captivating mix of art styles resulted in a line full of eerily dark, yet completely vibrant, creations.
Each colorful, printed, and brilliantly-proportioned look was emphasize by platinum blonde braids and paint stroke-like smokey eye makeup – crafted by the talented AOFM and Ecru New York teams.
“Avant-Garde is re-built when a reverent revival of classical art forms collides with the nihilistic, angst-filled lyrics reflecting the ideas of freedom and of breaking the rule,” the brand shared on its social media. “Inspired by impressionism art of open composition and emphasis on depiction of light in its changing qualities, Enigma will be unveiled. In this collection, the designer captures a fresh and original vision by recreating the sensation in the eye that views the future of fashion.”
The Richard Magazine editorial team was able to attend this season’s Videmus Omnia New York Fashion Week runway presentation, where we were dazzled by the collection’s intricate details and cutting-edge structures firsthand. The Bedazzled History of Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra
If you think you know what an expensive bra is, you haven’t seen Victoria’s Secret’s Fantasy Bra collection. If you thought the company’s most stupendous achievement was its infamous annual fashion show, you are clearly missing out. Ever since the Fantasy Bra debuted in 1996, the company has been experimenting with jewel-studded cups and gold filigree straps. Ranging anywhere from $1 million to $15 million dollars, these designs have become yet more iconic proof that Victoria’s Secret is the international bra queen. Not only are her designs the world’s sexiest bras; they are the most expensive. The 2016 Victoria’s Secret fashion show coming up on December 9th, so to prepare you for this year’s Fantasy Bra, let’s look through the glamorous evolution of the most expensive bras in the world.
Spoiler Alert: The 2016 Fantasy Bra unveiled below!
1996 – The Million-Dollar Miracle Bra
Before it was the Fantasy Bra, Claudia Schiffer adorned the cover of Victoria’s Secret’s Christmas catalog in this $1 million “miracle.”
1997 – The Diamond Dream Bra
It looks pretty plain and white to be one of the most expensive bras in the world, but this sophomore design’s diamond-studded hem and a centerpiece made still made it a $3 million investment.
1998 – The Dream Angel Fantasy Bra
With jeweled straps and intricate lace, the first of Victoria’s Secret bra titled a “Fantasy Bra” upped the ante by $2 million. It cost $5 million to bring home this beauty.
1999 – The Millennium Bra
Who better than to flaunt one of the world’s sexiest bras than Heidi Klum? The Millennium Bra, studded with dozens of diamond stars, blended sexy and expensive to the tune of $10 million.
2000 – The Red Hot Fantasy Bra
Victoria’s Secret’s most expensive bra was ruby red hot. Reaching the pinnacle of expensive bras at the turn of the century, this hot red bra cost a whopping $15 million!
2001 – The Heavenly Star Bra
With a big bad jewel connecting two bejeweled cups, this bra went down in cost while going up in design aesthetic. It was $12.5 million for the Heavenly Star Fantasy Bra.
2002 – The Star of Victoria Fantasy Bra
With a Disney princess vibe, this bedazzled bra continued the aesthetic development of expensive Victoria’s Secret bras. The price dropped too, to $10 million.
2003 – The Very Sexy Fantasy Bra
Despite its uninspired name, the 2003 Fantasy Bra was one of Victoria’s Secret’s most successful. It had a Wonder Woman look to it, brought Heidi Klum back for a third time, and was the first million-dollar bra to feature a jewel centerpiece pendulum.
2004 – The Heavenly “70” Fantasy Bra
A close examination of this bra shows detailed thematic design work. Perhaps this $100 million creation was the birth of the Victoria’s Secret Angels.
2005 – The Sexy Splendor Fantasy Bra
I never thought I’d see a cross between Mrs. Claus and Wonder Woman, but this is it. The metallic structure of this pricey holiday bra evokes bicycle wheels and gears, giving the $12.5 million design a mechanical feel.
2006 – The Hearts of Fire Diamond Fantasy Bra
If the White Witch of Narnia were a sexy millionaire, this is what she’d wear. The foliage-inspired wings and crystalline jewels appear like $6.5 million snow.
2007 – The Holiday Fantasy Bra
Here’s your $4.5 million Christmas Eve dalliance. The Victoria’s Secret fashion show is a December affair, so it was inevitable the holiday spirit would creep in at some point.
2008 – The Black Diamond Fantasy Bra
This was the first black bra to become one of the most expensive bras in the world. Valued at a modest $5 million, this bra features gold and silver swirling on a black diamond backdrop. If that’s not sexy, I don’t know what is.
2009 – The Harlequin Fantasy Bra
This second entry in the black Fantasy Bra canon looks a little like two apple pie crusts clamped onto Marisa Miller’s breasts. At least the cost is back down to $3 million.
2010 – The Bombshell Fantasy Bra
We’ve been through Wonder Woman, angels, and black diamonds, and now we land in exoticism. Though this bra sounds like an homage to Marilyn Monroe, it seems to be a celebration of pastel feathers.
2011 – The Fantasy Treasure Bra
Is this The Little Mermaid staged as a runway show? This turquoise bra is definitely right out of a sea fantasy. The costume almost outshines the $2.5 million bra. Impressive!
2012 – The Floral Fantasy Bra
Back on land, this bra feels right out of Alice and Wonderland. I’m beginning to wonder if $2.5 million is what it costs to be an adult Victoria’s Secret Disney princess…
2013 – The Royal Fantasy Bra
Finally, we’re back to the truly expensive Fantasy Bra more focused on being Victoria’s Secret’s most expensive bra than part of some runway theme. The price is back up too, at a whopping $10 million.
2014 – The Dream Angels Fantasy Bras
Worn by two veterans from past Victoria’s Secret fashion show, Adriana Lim and Alessandra Ambrosio, these may be the most interesting of the annual collection. With clear Indian influence, these rare designs show a surprising cultural awareness in Victoria’s Secret bras.
2015 – The Fireworks Fantasy Bra
Last year’s luxurious bra claimed was inspired by everyone’s favorite explosions: fireworks. It looks more like a costume from Waltz of the Flowers. Firework or flower, the $2 million bra certainly was colorful and one of our favorites at Richard Magazine.
2016 – The Bright Night Fantasy Bra
A bejeweled bra with turquoise accents is the newest Fantasy Bra in the collection from the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Jasmine Tookes wore this exotic look in Paris over the weekend. If you’re looking for a sexy $3 million gift for your lady, you can’t beat this.
Now you know the full history of the most expensive bras in the world. The 2016 Fantasy Bra has already been revealed, but it won’t be worn until the 2016 Victoria’s Secret fashion show on December 9th. These can tide you over while you wait.
These Victoria’s Secret Models Are Returning For Seconds (And Even Thirds)
If we told you it’s Angel season, you’d be justified in telling us to settle down. Lingerie’s biggest night of the year won’t happen for another two months and a bit more. However, there’s a method to our madness. Sure, The 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show won’t take to the catwalk until November, but the cast of sexy ladies who will represent seductive attire’s biggest name has just been chosen. That’s right. You can follow every member of the brand’s returning all-star team on Instagram and watch their Twitter accounts for behind-the-scenes coverage leading up to the big day. So, grab your phones and get those fingers poised over the like button. Just in case you missed them last year, here are the returners confirmed to be flaunting their stuff again at 2017’s VS Fashion Show.
One of the returning Angels, Candice is also an excellent photographer. Just check out her Instagram feed.
Martha basically announced her inclusion in the 2017 VS Show with major nostalgia. Points for #tbt worthiness for sure.
Stella is a VS runway veteran. Just look at the ease with which she holds her wings.
It’s no secret Gigi loves being an Angel. Good thing too, since she keeps getting cast.
The sisters are back! These two are repeating their duet performance from last year. Always nice to have a little sibling power lording it over the runway.
She’s got a killer sense of humor and always films the best behind-the-scenes content. Come November, you should be glued to her revealing feed.
Second-timer Grace is all about the empowering things like family and #pinknation. It’s refreshing to see her back for seconds.
XIAO WEN JU
Representing her home country of China once again, Xiao is making impressive strides for diversity on the VS runway.
Taking her casting announcement as a moment for personal reflection, Daniela reminds us Angels are also relatable human beings.
Herieth’s smiling face will be a brilliant addition to the VS Fashion Show. We love the pixie cut too. Definitely mark her down as a model to watch this season.
She’s a simple fashionista known for wearing unimposing outfits. What an excellent choice for the VS runway.
Sanne is ready for her third time working on Victoria’s Secret’s biggest day of the year. She also happens to be an excellent role model for 90s-obsessed fashionistas.
For her announcement, Maria congratulated her fellow models for getting into the VS Show with her. She must be the Angel with a heart of gold.
Sexy vintage is this Angel’s specialty. Even in her VS robe, she evokes Stockard Channing and the gang from Grease.
A classic VS girl who has those 90s locks going for her, Maggie seems to be proof that the more things change the more they stay the same.
And the award for best head of hair at The 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion show goes to…
Williams has Hollywood class. With her confidence, you’d think this was walk three or four, not just two.
If you somehow missed last year’s VS Show, here’s a quick glance at the board from 2016. Barbara sure knows how to draw in her fans.
With a perfect face soft as Barbie’s Kate moves with the grace expected of an Angel all the time. No wonder she got invited back for more.
Hopefully, you’re already following most of the returning Angels. If not, your Instagram just got a lot more exciting. If nothing else, this library of behind-the-scenes footage should keep you entertained until November comes along.
