Ready-to-wear isn’t Matan Shaked’s typical fare in the design studio, but it was the style he chose to tackle for his NYFW debut last night. Primarily known for crafted wedding dresses and custom haute couture gowns, Israel’s fashion wunderkind came to America laden with delicate skirts, billowing trousers, and even the occasional revealing top. Essentially, he took a hint from all those post-minimalists taking the style reins and gave decadent street style an arid touch. One of the chief accomplishments of his collection is its ability to excellently capture not just the desert, but that powerful spaciousness one feels when stretched out on the sand. Never too similar but always closely joined, billowing gowns and trousers alike managed to evoke atmospheres like the universe of Mad Max without resigning to apocalyptic measures. Even the unusual jewelry, metallic gold headdresses, seemed more natural than mechanical despite its wiry character.
And of course, there the flowers. Carefully embellishing sleeves and adorning bodices, the muted desert flower was a constant theme for Matan Shaked and appropriately so given the name of his show. Yet, after talking with the designer, we know there’s more behind his florals than trends and design. America is the ultimate blossom in Shaked’s crown of achievements so far. It is, it seems, part of his exuberant display for New York. There is a sense of raw transparency about this fresh collection, physically scattered with see-through tops and metaphorically through the desert theme. When you can illustrate your life story and combine stark futurism with the earthy regality of ancient times, you’re getting somewhere. Somehow, I sense Matan Shaked will be the man to finally capture the ultimate marriage of past and present in a runway collection.

Lavanya Coodly debuted her line of handcrafted men’s & womenswear, inspired by the idea of escaping the confines of a day-to-day existence and the many worlds we straddle; to travel the world anytime without ever leaving. Seven Crash is a mix of men’s & women’s streetwear inspired this season by “Gliese 581D”—a planet which is 20.4 light years away—exploring the relationship between human fantasy and technology using a mix of leather and wovens to illustrate the beauty between outer space and the real world. Stevenson University is a collection designed, sourced and produced by students who were inspired this season by The Evolution of Bjork.

Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, an Anti-Valentine’s, or simply just going out with your girls, any night out should be an excuse to get dolled up and try out some flirty and daring new looks. We have gathered a list of some of our favorite makeup looks, by some of your favorite influencers, to wear this Valentine’s. You’re guaranteed to be a showstopper at your night out with these looks.
There’s something so sweet and romantic about a rose gold look for Valentine’s Day. Desi Perkins created this angelic look by pairing the Kathleenlights Dream St. Palette on the eyes and Atole gloss by Iluvsarahii, both being a collaboration with ColourPop.
If you’re straying away from the pinks and bright reds then this Auburn makeup look is a nice alternative. Katy is using Dose of Colors eyeshadow palette in Sassy Sienna, Laura Geller’s blush in Sunswept, a dual finish highlight in Radiant Rose by Lancôme.
You could never go wrong with a strong red lip and a golden bronze on Valentine’s Day. To achieve Amra’s look, use a palette with shimmering neutral-tones, and a highlight to keep you glowing all night long, and of course don’t forget your favorite colored red lipstick!
Ditch the smokey eye and amplify your look with the cut-crease eyeshadow technique. Start your cut crease from the middle of the eye lid to the outer corners into a “V” shape. Karen chose her transition colors from Kathleenlights x Colourpop’s Dream St Palette. Pair your new eye look with a mauve blush and a nude colored lipstick to complete your look!
Nicole is giving us major barbie vibes, and all you need is a pop of pink! Nicole went light on her makeup look making the lips the center of attention. Use a matte neutral tone eyeshadow on the lid, eyeliner based on your preference and eye shape, gold glitter eyeshadow stick on the bottom set of lashes, a good layer of mascara, and of course the Anastasia Beverly Hills lipstick in Party Pink.
Pretty and minimalistic for those who don’t like caking on the makeup, you can opt for a more subtle look without going over the top. You can use neutral tones on the lid with a mauve color on the out er corners of the eye, a winged eyeliner, mascara, and your favorite light pink lipstick. For a rosey look you can wear a light pink or peach toned blush.
Shayla is slaying these peachy vibes. If you can’t choose between doing a red lip or a nude go for a peach tone instead. You get the boldness you want yet still slightly subtle to go along with any of your makeup looks. You can achieve Shayla’s look with a matte mauve and peach tone eyeshadow such as Too Faced’s Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette,Bobbi Brown’s liquid eyeliner, Huda Beauty’s Scarlett eyelashes, and Makeup Forever’s blush.
This warm, shimmery look is easy to recreate and perfect to enhance all eye colors. Nikkie is using Morphe’s39A Palette for her orange-copper tone eyes, paired with a Smashbox red lip in Carat Stick that also has an orange undertone.
Gunmetal eyes and a nude lip is all you need to pull off this soft glam. The gunmetal eyeshadow gives you the bold appearance you’re looking for while the nude lips, soft highlighter, and peachy blush give you the effortless glam you’re striving for.
Full on drama for the experienced makeup enthusiast. To achieve this heavy cut-crease plum and cranberry eye look, use Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette. Find something with a flat edge that you can use to draw the outer line of the eyeshadow, shade the lid with a pink or cranberry tone eyeshadow and then fill the outer corners with a dark plum eyeshadow, and blend out. Then pack on a gold or rose tone metallic glitter on the lid and inner corner of eyes. Pair it with a dark burgundy lipstick, mauve tone pink blush, and you’re ready to go on date night in your fully transformed look!
We all have a way to define our apparel in some oblique sense. Whether it’s chic, modern, or streetwear, it is our clothes that show who we are. But it’s that time of year again, the season is chilly, your room gets very nippy. We all need the right fashion to match the weather. So while the months continue to make icicles off of us, here are some timeless fashion trends for every fall season. While you’re shopping, find some party ideas you can pull off for the upcoming holidays!
Cardigans For A Colder Fall Season
Although the cardigan has come in so many different forms, it is quite an autumn look. Each generation has always reshaped and redefined the way it looks. And with this day and age, the single-closure cardigan has become very popular. Worn by Taylor Swift for her Folklore album, this is a cozy addition to the fall fashion trends. It has become quite the staple for fans and celebrities alike. And while Jack Frost lurks behind the corner, cardigans will become the requited option in your wardrobe.
Fall Nostalgia Calls For Sweater Dresses
Also known as the knitted dress, a stylish piece nonetheless. The sweater dress optimizes both appeal and functionality. A great alternative to regular sweaters and ordinary dresses. The sweater dress is the perfect example of ‘best of both worlds’. Offering a chic statement that chimes to the world, the attire is most reminiscent of the 60’s and 70’s. So it also gives you quite a sense of nostalgia. Wear some retro colors along with the outfit and you’ll really pull off the throwback look.
Long Jacket To Warm You Up
A nice long jacket turns heads and makes you a beguiled being, a wonder that passes them by. It’s a timeless ensemble to wear, your most elegant outfit covered by a tasteful jacket to hide that mystique of yours. Fuse together the flair of wearing something that is both classic and modern with a fashionable set of clothing you decide to wear underneath. You’ll not only be taken seriously but you’ll have that blend of sexy and classy you want when you’re going out.
Leather Jackets Are Prime During the Fall Season
Another classic that most people will find very enticing to wear is the leather look. Popularized during the 40’s and 50’s, the leather jacket blew up even further after Olivia Newton-John performed ‘You’re The One That I Want‘, sinking millions of hearts in the process. Once a symbolic centerpiece of the greaser subculture, the leather jacket has become an iconic piece of fashion for anyone to wear.
