Urban Outfitters Debuts New Spring Pieces for Urban Renewal Line
Earth Day is officially on Sunday, April 22, 2018 – but it is always a good time to start thinking about the environment and ways to reduce, re-use, and recycle. One way to cut back on waste – and give your wardrobe a special custom edge while you’re at it – if to support clothing brands’ efforts to turn remnants of outdated duds into the latest, must-have fashions. That’s where the Urban Outfitters Urban Renewal program comes in.
The idea of making old styles new again has been part of the brand’s core identity and values since it was first founded in 1970. Did you know that the retailer was actually first created as a second-hand clothing, accessories, and home decor brand for college students?
Now, UO’s Urban Renewal collection consists of stocked vintage styles (with slight variations in size and color); redone pieces created using unsold “deadstock” or surplus materials; special one-of-a-kind pieces; standalone vintage pieces; and customized vintage redesigned by the UO team. In other words, no two pieces are exactly alike, so you get a one-of-a-kind garment while supporting a cause.
This season, there are a ton of new offerings in men’s and women’s sizing – and the brand’s online vintage collection will be mirrored in select stores. An even larger selection of Urban Outfitters stores across North America will also be hosting a spring series of UO Yard Sale events between April 19 and April 22, so shoppers can select their unique finds in person – just like going to a street full of thrift stores!
