Pantone Reveals Classic Blue as the Color of the Year 2020

It’s officially Color of the Year announcement season, and industry-leading color authority Pantone has just revealed its Color of the Year 2020 pick as the enduring shade, Classic Blue.
Pantone calls this universally-beloved shade “a timeless and enduring blue hue elegant in its simplicity.” It’s the color of your favorite lived-in blue jeans, or maybe your childhood bedroom walls. It has great implications across the fashion and beauty worlds, as it would look just as amazing in an evening gown as it would as an edgy nail polish shade.
“Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of Classic Blue offer the promise of protection; highlighting our desire for a dependable and stable foundation from which to build,” the brand said in a statement.
“As we cross the threshold into a new era, Pantone has translated the hue into a multi-sensory experience to reach a greater diversity of people and provide an opportunity for everyone to engage with the color,” Patone added. “We will be tapping into sight, sound, smell, taste, and texture to make the Pantone Color of the Year for 2020 a truly immersive color experience for all.”
Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the globally-renowned Pantone Color Institute, has confidence that this color will be just what we need moving into a new decade.
“We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by Pantone 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on,” Eiseman said in a statement.
“Imbued with a deep resonance, Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue evocative of a vast and infinite evening sky, Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.”
