Starbucks Debuts Blonde Espresso
For the first time in its 43-year history, Starbucks has officially unveiled a second type of espresso. Today, the popular coffee chain announced the arrival of the Starbucks Blonde Espresso, a smooth and subtly sweet twist on their classic blend.
As part of this launch, Starbucks has dropped the Iced Blonde Americano (which has “a smooth, refreshing finish with light notes of sweet citrus.”), the Blonde Flat White (where “Ristretto shots of Starbucks Blonde Espresso harmonize sweetly with steamed whole milk.”), and the Blonde Vanilla Latte (where “a touch of vanilla flavor is just enough to draw out the subtle sweetness of Starbucks Blonde Espresso.”) according to the brand.
Each of these drinks is described as “less intense” than anything you’re used to from strong espresso. This way, there’s something for a wider range of coffee drinkers!
“Our partners are so passionate about their craft and now they get to help our customers discover and personalize the foundation of the beverage – an espresso that is either bold and rich or smooth and bright. We want every experience our customers have with us to be perfect for them,” Kris Engskov, the president U.S. Retail for Starbucks, said in a press release.
“We set the standard for a dark, boldly roasted coffee and in this case, we broke a few of our own rules by taking a lighter approach to espresso which created a bright taste with sweet citrus notes and a smooth body,” Andrew Linnemann, Starbucks’ vice president of global coffee, added. “We are really proud of the roast and think customers are going to love experimenting with it.”
