Saint Laurent Creates a Custom Pop-Up Collection for Colette
Saint Laurent is the latest designer to pay tribute to the iconic Fresh fashion retailer, Colette. As you may have heard, the Paris-based department store is closing its doors for good next month, as founder Colette Roussaux is retiring. But several high fashion brands are making sure the boutique goes out in style.
In addition to chic YSL handbags, coin purses, and leather goods, this capsule collection also includes collectible tech accessories, home goods, and beyond. Talk about a wide range of shopping possibilities!
Within the partnership, there are even further collaborations, as Saint Laurent worked with Polaroid to create a custom SX-70 camera, Vespa for a chic moped design, Arkaic Concept skateboards, Baccarat crystals, and a custom box of Pierre Marcolini. The micro-collection also includes tees, phone cases, and more that honor artists like Bryan Ferry and Patti Smith. All of these designs were intended to celebrate Paris and its rich cultural influence over the ages.
The limited edition Saint Laurent Colette collection will be available in the Paris retail store from November 27 to the store’s final closing on December 20, 2017. This is likely to be Colette’s final designer collaboration. But, it is perfect timing for those of us who have left their holiday shopping until the last minute!
It is also worth noting that this is an interestingly-timed partnership. Widely rumored in the fashion industry are suggestions that YSL will be taking over the current Parisian Colette retail space in 2018. We would be curious to see if this mini holiday line is also test-driving customers’ shopping experience.
