MAC Cosmetics Reveals Aaliyah Collection Launch Date
MAC Cosmetics‘ collaborations are some of the most highly-anticipated makeup launches around. But now, the beauty brand will be honoring the late musical legend Aaliyah with their new upcoming collection, and fans can’t wait to see what the full tribute range will bring.
When you’re dealing with a tribute to a beloved figure, it can be really tricky to honor their legacy properly, keep fans happy, and do something creative and bold while you’re at it. But judging by the first-look images shared by the brand so far, MAC Cosmetics is working to do Aaliyah’s style some justice – nearly 17 years after her tragic passing in 2001.

MAC has shared two product teasers so far, featuring the perfect 90s inspired nude-brown lipstick shade, and an eyeshadow palette packed with nine warm shades. Though the company hasn’t dished on the product names just yet, each piece in the collection will have a title inspired by one of Aaliyah’s songs.

Not only are these beautiful products shades that we can’t wait to rock ourselves, but we can totally imagine Aaliyah testing out these shades too. Perhaps the best part of this collection is that it actually came about thanks to a change.org petition created by Aaliyah’s brother Rashad Haughton, her makeup artist Eric Ferrell, hairstylist Tre Major, and fashion Stylist Derek Lee, who knew the artist loved her own MAC makeup stash. So not only is her close family totally down for this collab, but friends and supporters (like Missy Elliott, and many major media outlets) backed their support.
The MAC Cosmetics Aaliyah collection will drop on June 20 online, and June 21 in stores.
