Lavanya Coodly, Seven Crash, and Stevenson University Team Up for NYFW Fall 2018
When three totally different designers come together as part of New York Fashion Week, you know that their runway show is going to be a one-of-a-kind event. Nolcha Shows presented three indie brands – Lavanya Coodly, Seven Crash, and Stevenson University – together in a collective Fall 2018 show on February 11, 2018 at the picturesque Mercedes-Benz Manhattan headquarters.
First up to the runway, Lavanya Coodly debuted her line of handcrafted men’s and womenswear, which she shared was “inspired by the idea of escaping the confines of a day-to-day existence and the many worlds we straddle; to travel the world anytime without ever leaving.” Standout pieces in the collection included chiffon ruffles as shoulder detailing, fringe skirts, colorful scarves, and luxurious knits.

Seven Crash also presented a mix of men’s & women’s looks: creative streetwear inspired this season by Gliese 581D—a planet which is 20.4 light years away. The collection is “exploring the relationship between human fantasy and technology using a mix of leather and wovens to illustrate the beauty between outer space and the real world,” according to the brand.
The space theme lent itself to some eye-catching and unforgettable runway moments, including models in metallic silver moon boots and helmet-like gear.

Stevenson University is actually a collection that was designed, sourced, and produced by students of the Maryland-based college. This season’s source of inspiration was “The Evolution of Bjork.” With a fashion inspiration that bold, you know there were some edgy silhouettes, creative draping, and futuristic styles on this runway.
