Minimalism Gets Redefined In the Jil Sander Resort 2019 Collection Lookbook
Fashion designers Luke and Lucie Meier have a new vision for where the Jil Sander brand is going since they look over the label in 2017 – and it is evident in the latest imagery released this month. The husband and wife design duo revealed the lookbook for the upcoming Jil Sander Resort 2019 collection, and we can instantly see that the new season is defined by a mix of contemporary minimalism and retro pop mod references.
In this collection, many of your classic wardrobe essentials like black, white, and khaki are made crisper, fresher, and as ready for office workwear as well as street style. With checkerboard prints and thin stripes adorning the line’s boldest pieces, we are also transported to the style sensibilities of decades past.
The line also takes a utilitarian approach to accessories, playing off of plastic shopping bags and fruit netting for a round of quirky handbags.
“Of course, we always think about the future and where the world is going,” Luke Meier shared with Vogue about the brand’s latest objectives. “It’s an issue that confronts us every day; it won’t go away anytime soon. But even if we’re going into a more radical future with more radical changes ahead, there will still be ideals and things that make us very human, like the feeling of intimacy and the need for comfort, or enjoying our daily rituals, or loving little objects that bring us back into real experiences.”
“Luxury has to do with feeling good in your clothes and in your personality,” Lucie added in the interview. “It’s also about empowerment, which only comes through confidence and ease.”
These new garments are definitely luxurious in their effortlessness.
