See the Theatrical Galia Lahav Spring 2020 Bridal Collection
When it comes to their wedding day fashions, many brides want their gorgeous gowns to be full of drama and theatrical flair. Well, the Galia Lahav Spring 2020 Bridal collection, presented during the recent season of New York Bridal Fashion Week, was quite literally inspired by the grandest of theatrical performances – and Beyoncé. So you know all eyes are on the bride when she’s rocking one of these elaborate looks.
“After seeing Dreamgirls onstage in London last summer, I decided to go back and watch the film version of the musical starring Beyoncé,” Galia Lava designer Sharon Sever told Vogue. “While designing each of the dresses in this collection, I played ‘Listen,’ which Beyoncé sang in the movie. Somehow, when I sketched a dress without hearing the lyrics, it just wouldn’t come out right, and I’d throw the design away.”
“I thought about how a bride often has to play a role that is expected of her, so this collection is about being true to yourself,” the designer said. “It’s about loving yourself, loving who you’re marrying, and loving what you’re wearing.”
The collection is full of fairy tale princess-inspired silhouettes and couture detailing. Flowing ball gown skirts bring all the diva-required drama, while sexy mermaid silhouettes channel retro singers and Hollywood superstars.
To showcase the collection of new designs, the brand shot its latest season lookbook in and around an opulent, chandelier-dotted theater setting. The gowns look extra crave-worthy backstage at the opera, or posed with a grand piano at a golden concert space.
