The Calvin Klein 205W39NYC Fall 2018 campaign is all about playing with proportions. The designer label’s most noteworthy fashions and accessories are taken to new heights for the season’s captivating and artistic new photo series.
“The Fall 2018 collection is an allegory for a meeting of old worlds and new worlds, relating to the discovery of America, the 1960s Space Race and the twenty-first century information age,” Creative Director Raf Simons shared in a press statement. “Reflecting the notion of democracy, there is no cultural hierarchy: the mixes emancipate clothing and references from their meanings, from their own narratives, and collage them to discover something different — a different dream.”
There is a captivating mix of a strange nostalgia and distinct foreignness in this dreamlike photo series, as the location feels like something you have seen before but can’t exactly place where.
“Shot by @willyvanderperre, this season explores the American landscape through an otherworldly lens,” the brand added on Instagram. “Lensed by @willyvanderperre and juxtaposed against the backdrop of the Utah desert. The campaign evokes a sense of calm and hope, capturing the ever-present theme of American youth.”
The collection’s knit balaclavas and futuristic sunglasses are certainly the standout pieces in this editorial fashion campaign. They are the most space-age accessories, especially as they are showcased against dramatically layered garments and exaggerated silhouette proportions. This season’s lookbook is unlike anything we have ever seen from the label before – and it’s a striking new direction.
