Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma Fashion Line Inspired by Marie Antoinette
Well, we’ve seen it go both ways. Celebrities that delve into fashion are either going to have a gigantic hit or an embarrassing miss. But unlike Kanye’s confusing display at this year’s New York Fashion Week, Rihanna’s Fenty X Puma line unveiled in Paris left onlookers craving for more. This isn’t Rihanna’s first fashion line, but is certainly her finest work so far.
Rihanna Meets Marie Antoinette
The pop star featured her pastel collection at the breathtaking Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild. This collection presented a variety of sweats, parkas, and hoodies that were elegantly clad with lace and corsetry. Guests and journalists said that the clothes conjured Marie Antoinette’s gym wear. Not many people don’t know it, but she was heavily into into P90x during the French Revolution. (No, we’re kidding.) The combinations of casual gym wear and lavish pearls and lingerie makes Rihanna’s latest fashion offering fresh, relaxed, and sexy as hell.
Rihanna said about the line, “I am really excited about this collection as its very fun and light. Showing in Paris was the perfect backdrop as I pulled a lot of inspiration from France, Marie Antoinette and The Palace of Versailles specifically. Mixing athletic wear with regal touches was a challenge and I hope everyone loves the results. I cannot wait to wear this collection.”
Rihanna didn’t just focus on clothes either. She sported a chic line of accessories to go along with her featured garments. Everything from baseball caps with corset ties, to shower shoes with oversized pink silk bows, lace-up mules with a puma stripe. Even frilly gym bags in pink and army green were all on display.
Rihanna, who became the creative director of Puma in December 2014, previously designed clothing for Armani and River Island as well. Her previous designs for Puma, shown at spring NYFW, were well received but it’s easy to say that her Paris fashion week showing trumped her previous efforts. You have to love her. She’s all swag and a lot of fun. Richard Magazine can’t wait to see what’s next from Rihanna and Puma.
