Reese Witherspoon and Her Daughter Ava Phillippe Front Draper James Spring Campaign
Ava Phillippe is on a roll right now: the 18-year-old fashionista – and daughter of actress Reese Witherspoon – recently made her modeling debut by appearing in the star-studded Rodarte Spring 2018 campaign. But now, she’s posing side-by-side with her glamorous mama in a campaign for the new Draper James designs.
Draper James is actually Reese’s own clothing line, created to honor her family’s heritage and her own Southern roots. So it’s especially appropriate that she’s keeping it in the family for this modern, spring-ready launch.
In a new interview for their campaign, Reese and Ava each raved about one another’s styles – and the things that make each woman special.

You may be thinking that Reese and Ava are total lookalikes, but the actress explains her daughter has picked up more than just her looks.
“I think the way Ava and I are most alike is our strong opinions and our empathy. From the time that she could speak, Ava has always had her own ideas, and I love to watch her express herself,” Reese shared. “She also cares deeply about her family and the world around her. She frequently educates me on news stories and issues young women are facing.”

“I thought it might be fun to focus on Mother/Daughter love this Spring. There is nothing like the love I have for my daughter,” Reese added. “We share every emotion with each other, our hopes, and dreams… We can talk for hours!! Ava and I also share clothes sometimes, and it makes me so happy to see how she expresses her own personal style with each outfit she creates. She is cutting her own creative path in this world, and I could not be prouder of her.”

While most teens don’t get the chance to work with their moms – or if they did, maybe they wouldn’t be too keen on the idea – Ava loved this opportunity.
“I love being around my mom, and this shoot was an opportunity to have fun and support her work as a female entrepreneur,” Ava shared about being part of this Draper James shoot. “She also brings a lot of comfort and positive energy with her to work, and I think it’s inspiring to see her personal relationships with everybody on set.”

While Ava and Reese may be wearing coordinating pink styles for this campaign, they differ in their fashion senses in real life. Still, they have a mutual understanding of one another’s aesthetics, which likely helps when creating new Draper James pieces!
“The best thing about how my mom has influenced my style is that, while I do take her advice, it’s still my own. She and I agree on a lot of what’s ‘fashionable,’ but we have different taste, and she’s really respectful of my personality as I express it through clothes,” Ava said. “I think as a teenager, it’s important to have both guidance and freedom in finding your style, and my mom is really good at balancing that.”
