Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber, & More Models Star In Moschino’s “Alien Nation” Fall 2018 Campaign
What do you get when you combine vintage, 1960s styling with eye-catching details of the space age future? We imagine it is something a whole lot like the new Moschino Fall 2018 campaign. For this season, the designer label transformed several of our favorite models – including Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Soo Joo Park, and Vittoria Ceretti – into a rainbow-hued “Alien Nation” of stars.

Designer Jeremy Scott debuted our first look at this campaign across Instagram, where he introduced his army of extraterrestrial models. Shot by Steven Meisel and styled by Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, these boldly colored images directly reflect the vintage-futuristic vibe we saw at the Moschino Fall 2018 runway show in February.
“What is an ‘alien?’ the concept of my ad campaign is to bring attention to the us administration’s harsh stance towards ‘illegal aliens,’” Jeremy Scott posted on Instagram, igniting some controversy about the campaign. “I painted the models in my show and this campaign as a way to open a discussion on what exactly an ‘alien’ is – are they orange blue yellow green? Does this matter? They are our friends, neighbors, co workers, relatives and people we love.”

At first, you will be drawn to the models’ neon yellow, bright orange, lively teal, and bold blue skin tones. It’s not even a Photoshop effect – all of the girls were really given a temporary new tint with all-over body paint for this creative photo shoot. And of course, there’s major Jackie O styling going on at every level, from the line’s retro pillbox hats and colorful berets to sleek bodycon knitwear and mod suit separates.

But when you spend some time looking more closely at the collection, you will easily spot some modern finds your future wardrobe will love. Like the brand’s leather jacket handbag? It has been updated in a crave-worthy Tiffany blue hue – as is the capsule’s lovely wool coat that Kaia sports in her own campaign snap. And the millennial pink zip-up suit pieces? We need them in our closets immediately.
