Maggie Sottero’s NYBFW Showings Pay Tribute to the Brand’s 20-Year Fashion Legacy – Exclusive Interview
Christina Blanchette, the marketing VP for Sottero designs, gave Richard Magazine the stories behind three beautiful Sottero collections on The Knot Couture Show runway during New York Bridal Fashion Week.
The Emerald collection by Maggie Sottero celebrates the brand’s 20 years in the fashion industry. Christina says it is “inspired by our legacy of a mother and daughter creatively making brides dreams a reality.”
As for the latest Rebecca Ingram collection, “This is our newest label on the market. It’s the perfect blend of timeless beauty, as well as, being able to bring that affordable price point to that budget savvy bride.”
Then, there is the newest Sottero and Midgley collection. “When you want style or you want to make that statement when you’re walking down the aisle – as unique as the bride who wears it. You’re seeing the avant-garde fashion style elements. Deep plunging necklines, deep backs, long dramatic trains, layers and playfulness of different textures to really bring a statement to the day of the wedding.” Nothing brings drama like a long train.
Who would Christina love to see rock a Sottero gown? “For statement making, avant-garde fashion, Jennifer Lopez would look fabulous to me.” We think JLo can pull off any look for sure – she transcends age.
What’s next? “A lot of sexiness on the horizon with the Maggie Sottero design elements. “Lots of fun, playful beading and fabrications to really bring a more dramatic statement to life. But still being able to temper the classic moment that a wedding materializes.”
