See How Dior’s Latest Lady Dior Designs Came To Life
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to design a handbag? How about to put a fresh take on an iconic designer style, like the Lady Dior bag? On Dior’s social media pages, the brand took us behind-the-scenes of creating the colorful and eye-catching handbags from their Cruise 2018 collection. You’ll be so inspired by the custom artwork and craftsmanship that goes into each piece.
First, sketches are made, and hand-colored in with the precise details of the season. For artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri’s latest vision, that means incorporating in artwork reminiscent of folklore, the zodiac, and fortune-telling tarot cards.
After the sketches are finalized and approved, the Dior designs can be put into production. Leathers are meticulously measured out, and handles are handcrafted. In this season’s case, the beautiful tarot card-inspired embellishments are hand-painted onto the bag’s exterior. This makes each piece truly special and unique.
