Chanel Takes Us to the Beach for the Spring/Summer 2019 Paris Fashion Week Show
Do you ever dream about wearing your luxury Chanel pieces on a beautiful island or coastal seaside? This season of Paris Fashion Week, the label turned France’s Grand Palais into a tropical getaway – complete with a sandy beach, soothing waves, and radiant baby blue skies – to present their latest designs. The Chanel Spring/Summer 2019 PFW Ready-To-Wear show instead felt very much like a resort line, as it quite literally took us on holiday. There were even real lifeguards on duty at this private beach scene.
There were touches of whimsy everywhere throughout this clever Chanel runway collection. Fun seashell bags and mini beach ball totes made elegant workwear feel way more playful. Many models sported stylish straw hats, a retro-inspired style staple that’s actually a practical shielder of the sun. Meanwhile, colorful cork slides were an ultra-wearable footwear presentation – when models weren’t kicking off their shoes to wade through the sand.
Even the Chanel label’s iconic tweed suits (somehow) came across beach-appropriate at this show. Who ever would have thought? Usually, they’re the epitome of classy and elegant style. But in pretty nude tones, pastel yellows, and vibrant pink sets, here the fabric reads summer chic and cruise season beach wedding worthy – especially as layered skirts and strappy dresses.
For the show’s beauty looks, the Chanel makeup team kept the beachy theme going with neutral, bronzed complexions, bold brows, and pops of summery bold lip colors. We certainly know which looks we’ll be re-creating when the sunny season starts up again in 2019!
